On July 29, 2026, Serviamus Foundation Inc. (SFI), in partnership with the Diocese of Iligan, successfully turned over a new house to the Latonio family through the SFI Free Housing Program for our members heavily affected by Tropical Depression Basyang. The simple turn-over ceremony was attended by SFI staff led by SFI President Romanito R. Tan. The new house was blessed by Rev. Fr. Andres "Andy" Tampos, Parish Priest of Birhen sa Rosaryo Parish, Tipanoy, Iligan City. Latonio’s Family Story "When the typhoon came, the floodwater rushed in very quickly. We ran to our neighbor's house to stay safe and by around 2:00 a.m., our house was washed away. I cried because we lost everything. I was not worried about our belongings or even our house. What worried me the most were my child’s important documents because my child was about to finish her master's degree. A few days later and during our center meeting, our BDS told us that SFI would provide assistance. At first, we thought it would be financial assistance, but we were surprised and happy when we told that SFI would provide housing materials. With God's grace, my daughter's support, and the housing materials from SFI, we were able to build our home again. We are deeply thankful to SFI! We never expected such a blessing. When we thought we had lost everything, SFI reminded us that there is always hope. Today, we have a house that we can finally call home again.” The story of the Latonio family reminds us that even after life's hardest storms, hope can rise again. A home is more than a roof over our heads. It is a place where families can feel safe, heal, and start over. Together with our partners and supporters, we will continue to bring hope—one home, one family, and one community at a time.
